The Elusive White iPhone Appears On The German Apple Website [Update: Pulled!]

Quick! Before it’s gone! Click over to the German Apple iPhone 4 vs iPhone 3GS page to see a pic of the white iPhone 4. It’s a tad small, but you get the idea. It’s just another piece of evidence in the developing case that the white iPhone is finally nearing release.

The phone was originally supposed to be release in the weeks following the iPhone 4′s launch date. But then it was pushed back. Again. And again. Until it was finally pulled completely from Apple’s website. Now a report surfaced claiming a new “miracle painting material” solved the previous issue.

The snow white iPhone is still no where to be found on the US Apple website. Even pics of it with bumpers were pulled weeks ago. But this little pic, buried in a random, but still official, section of the iPhone’s product pages suggests that it might be coming after all.

Still, one question remains: Will Verizon get the white iPhone?

Update: That was fast. Minutes after posting, the whole section shown in the screenshot above of the translated German site disappeared! It’s a slippery devil.

Looks Like The White iPhone 4 Problems Were In The Paint

According to Macotakara, the problem was in paint application, resulting in discoloration and general malaise.

According to a source, specified printing white color for iPhone 4 brings poor yield and then huge number of defective products. This is the reason of disturbing to start manufacturing, a source said.

To solve this problem, a Japanese company developed miracle painting material which is able to be set thickness of painting layer.

Hopefully this means the rise of the White, snowy iPhone to match this white, snowy January.

With The White iPhone 4 Still A No-Show, A White Nexus S Appears

If you’re still waiting for the thus-far-mythical white iPhone 4 to actually ship, you’re probably feelin’ pretty burned by now. Perhaps you’re even feelin’ burned enough to jump ship over to Android? Perhaps you’ll fill that gap in your heart and that space in your pocket with a Nexus S, instead? If this latest leak is any indication, you won’t even have to forego your love for white phones; the Nexus S, it seems, might just be gettin’ a white variant of its own.

The shot above comes from German tech blog BestBoyz.de. According to their tipster, this thing is a sure thing to ship in Germany — as for the rest of the world, we’ll have to cross our fingers and wish real hard. Alas, it looks like only the back of the phone rock’s the white hue; the front and bezel are the same black as the standard model.

Fun fact: Ever wonder why there aren’t more phones with white fronts? We’ve asked a bunch of designers at a bunch of big ol’ handset companies the same thing, and they all said the same: it makes the handset look bigger, and the screen look smaller.
