Camera Equipped AirSketcher Fan Can Track Targets Telling It Where To Blow

It’s hard to get excited about a desk fan when air conditioning does a far better job at cooling a room. But that’s because desk fans don’t usually have a camera located in the center that can track targets, automatically aiming the breeze where it’s needed. Designed by Keita Watanabe, the fan, in its current technological state, can track special flag targets, turning to direct the air wherever it finds one in a room. The flags also have a different symbol on the back, letting the fan know if it should be on or off. This gives a user complete control of the fan without the need for a powered remote, but more importantly, by placing these flags around a room, it can tell it when to blow and when not to blow when set to sweep back and forth.

Tokyoflash’s Latest: Telling Time With Words

FILED IN Entertainment No Comments

time-with-words-yo.gif

Words: they’ll never hurt me like sticks and stones. And, okay, the stove. But now you can tell time wif dem! And Tokyoflash’s latest, the Kisai Kaidoku, does just that. It’s the second fan design submitted to Tokyoflash’s Design Challenge blog to become reality (the first being the RPM) and was conceptualized by a 15-year old. I wasn’t conceptualizing anything at 15 except what a tit might feel like! (In my mind, a balloon filled with pizza dough)

Available in black with a blue LCD display or silver with a blue, green or purple LCD display, Kisai Kaidoku is ‘always on’ and has time, date, alarm and an EL backlight. It is available for a limited time release price of $119 (€82, £72) until 11:30am Friday July 8th (Japan time).

Well — you guys like this one? If you like it I might be able to get my hands on some to give away in a contest. And by hands I mean wrists, because that’s where you’re supposed to wear a watch. NOT on your penis. *AHEM* I’m looking at you, Mr. AskMeWhatTimeItIs!

Nielsen’s Teen Mobile Report Shows Telling Trends In Mobile Data Usage

FILED IN gadgets No Comments

It’s not a surprise that teens text a lot – teen females age 13 – 17 send and receive an average of 4,050 texts per month – however what is most interesting to me in this report from Nielsen is the trend for data consumption among teens. In one year, the percentages have increased significantly. They’re higher than I would have expected.

Now, what do I think? Well, when you factor these behaviors in with other findings like this Pew Survey or this Forrester report (which among other things finds that “daily Internet access for smartphone users is 35%” and that “A full two-thirds or 66% of all smartphone users access the mobile Web monthly or more often”) it becomes clearer that these habits are swiftly becoming the norm, especially for youth.

If nothing else the Nielsen findings point to the fact that data capable handset penetration is consistently reaching a younger and younger demographic and also hint that, behaviorally speaking, the utility and convenience teens seek and expect from the mobile channel is rising. It’s also important to point out that this age group’s mobile savvy is surely music to the ears of mobile marketers everywhere. Retailers will be wise to recognize this trend in habitual data consumption and the bonanza it represents – especially as teens grow older, become financially independent themselves AND keep their mobile consumption habits in tact.

Tracy Chapman – Telling stories

FILED IN music videos No Comments

Cute song with cute lyrics by Tracy Chapman. The video clip and lyrics follow. -Quang-

.
Tracy Chapman – Telling stories
There is fiction in the space between

The lines on your page of memories

Write it down but it doesnt mean

Youre not just telling stories

There is fiction in the space between

You and me
There is fiction in the space between

You and reality

You will do and say anything

To make your everyday life

Seem less mundane

There is fiction in the space between

You and me
Theres a science fiction in the space between

You and me

A fabrication of a grand scheme

Where I am the scary monster

I eat the city and as I leave the scene

In my spaceship I am laughing

In your remembrance of your bad dream

Theres no one but you standing
Leave the pity and the blame

For the ones who do not speak

You write the words to get respect and compassion

And for posterity

You write the words and make believe

There is truth in the space between
There is fiction in the space between

You and everybody

Give us all what we need

Give us one more sad sordid story

But in the fiction of the space between

Sometimes a lie is the best thing

Sometimes a lie is the best thing
