Old Spice Guy makes Windows Phone 7 sound good

The embargo has been lifted, the first reviews are starting to trickle out, and so far Windows Phone 7 is having a pretty good day. It’s not perfect by any stretch, but it’s Microsoft’s first big step back into mobile relevance, and that’s got to count for something. With its launch window fast approaching, though, Microsoft has to hustle to gain some mindshare, and what better way to do so than with some good ol’ fashioned sex appeal?

Internet wise men have known that Old Spice pitchman Isaiah Mustafa has been slated to do some Windows Phone 7 promo work down in Australia, but there is one thing they couldn’t possibly have predicted: how sexy he makes it sound. During a recent appearance on Nova 106.9 out of Brisbane, Mr. Mustafa wields what looks to be a HTC Surround and utters words like “people hub” and “Xbox Live tile” that overflow with such sexual energy that they wash over your body like a velvet tidal wave.

Ahem.

I’m sure I’m not the only one that feels this way — the segment’s female host seems to get just as hot for… Windows phones… as I did. Feel free to watch the footage yourself, but be warned: you may need a cold shower (or a new phone) when it’s all over.

Netflix Says Goodbye to Disks and Hello to Streaming and 5.1 Surround Sound

Netflix has partnered with Dolby Digital Plus to deliver 5.1-channel surround sound for TV shows and movies streamed instantly over the Internet on the Sony Playstation3, making the PS3 the first consumer electronics device to support 5.1-channel surround sound on movies streamed from Netflix. More devices will support it in the future. Starting this month, PS3 owning Netflix users will no longer be required to use a disk as movie and TV content is starting to be streamed.
