Pong Brand Beer Made For Playing Beer Pong

FILED IN Entertainment No Comments

Because frat bros will buy anything, Latrobe Brewing Company of Pennsylvania is now manufacturing and selling Pong brand beer, canned beer made specifically for playing beer pong (read: watery and tasteless). Me? I play beer pong like a REAL MAN. With no shirt and pounding my chest like a wild animal. “…I think that means you play more like a wild animal then.” *growling and eating dog food*

According to the company’s website, the beverage is currently available in 10 states, and is coming soon to Texas and Florida. The folks at Pong Beer did the math, and the numbers are pretty convincing. Sales of beer pong paraphernalia generate $20 million annually and 50% of college students say they play the game.

As a reminder this beer is not just for drinking, a 30 can “Rack Pack” comes with two free balls. For those who can’t be bothered to walk down the dry goods aisle, “The Reload” comes with everything you need for a rousing evening of Beirut: 16 oz. cups and four balls in one easy to grab package.

Wow, and all along I thought Miller Light/Bud Light/Natty Light/Coors Light/Beast/Busch/PBR were perfectly fine beer pong beers. What was I thinking?! “You were probably drunk.” Happy I like to call it — I was probably happy.

Legend Of Zelda Overworld Map Beer Pong Table

FILED IN Entertainment No Comments

zelda-beerpong-1.jpg

Combining two of my favorite things in the whole entire universe (which, contrary to popular belief, I’m the master of), this is a Legend of Zelda beer pong table constructed from 128 printed screenshots of the overworld from the original game. Would I play on it? Yes. Would I chop the thing in half with a Master Sword replica if I lost? Also yes. Plus chase the winners out into the street and make them dive into traffic from between parked cars. What? I’m a sore loser! Paper-rock-scissors to see who goes first?

Niklas Roy’s PING! Mixes Old-School PONG With A Touch Of Modern Augmented Reality

Niklas Roy's PING! (Images courtesy Niklas Roy)
By Andrew Liszewski

There’s no paddles, no score and no ultimate goal, but Niklas Roy’s PONG! Augmented Pixel game still looks like it would be incredibly fun to play with, and hard to walk away from. He describes it as a sort of sandbox game, not unlike GTA, but not anything like it either. Built as a standalone hardware box, the game has a single video input which takes a live feed from a video camera, and a video and audio out for connecting it to a television. In fact the electronics inside are fairly simple by today’s standards, and Niklas believes his device could have easily been built back in the 70′s. Though it would cost heaps more than it does today.

Instead of paddles, the white ball seen on screen bounces around between two white lines, but it can also interact with a dark object in the video feed. So you can use your hands, fingers or anything with adequate contrast to be a makeshift paddle. The lack of scoring might make it seem like a useless tech demo, but seeing it in action below makes it look pretty addictive. The old school video game sound effects at boot-up and while playing are a nice touch too.

Gotta Chug ‘Em All!: Pokémon Beer Pong Table (With Bonus Box Of Taco Shells!!!!11)

FILED IN Entertainment No Comments

pbp-1.jpg

Did somebody say beer pong and taco night?

This is a travel beer pong table decorated with a bunch of epoxied Pokémon cards by Tom Sejkora’s. DAMMIT TOM, GIVE IT TO ME STRAIGHT — DID YOU HAVE ME OVER TO PLAY BEER PONG OR POKEMON? Twister?! You know I’m down.

My inspiration? Beer and pokemon obviously. My friends had a table covered in bottlecaps that made out the Irish flag. I thought it was cool, and wanted to try my own design. Originally I collected bottlecaps, but soon realized how much time it would take to collect them all, as well as the cost of coating them and the difficulty of doing so properly. Plus the bottlecap table has been done to death. I was considering fortunes from chinese takeout, and all other sorts of other things, until I realized I had a gajillion pokemon cards that I hadn’t used in years (even though I did play with my friends during class in high school).

On a side note, I don’t even like playing beer pong, and I’m absolutely atrocious at it…

“Don’t even like playing beer pong?!” THEN WHY BOTHER MAKING THE TABLE? That’s like me building a robot. You know, I really hate these things, and it’s probably gonna kill me in my sleep, but what the hell. YOU’RE F***ING SICK, BRO.

Hit the jump for a bunch more pictures that really make me question Tom’s sense of composition. View full post on Geekologie – Gadgets, Gizmos, and Awesome
