One Pocket Watch To Rule Them All

FILED IN gadgets No Comments

By David Ponce

One thing can be said: Cartier knows how to make a good looking pocket watch. The Cartier Skeleton Pocket Watch (Grand Complication) is the latest masterpiece from the 167 year old company.

For each of the past few years at the SIHH show in Geneva, Cartier has unveiled a “grande complication” (i.e. a highly complicated) wristwatch featuring a tourbillon, perpetual calendar and monopusher chronograph. The trend will continue this year – for 2012, Cartier has drawn inspiration from Cartier pocket watches produced in the 1930′s to produce the eye-catching piece you see here. The pocket watch is crafted in white gold, with skeletonized Roman numerals, something that we have also seen the past few years in some of Cartier’s higher end pieces.

Only ten of the pieces will be made with an additional 5 diamond-set ones to come out later next year. Very limited edition, as well as rare and expensive materials make this one timepiece whose price no one needs to ask for.

Hot Pocket: Homemade Pizza Slice Sleeping Bags

FILED IN Entertainment No Comments

pizza-sleeping-bag-1.jpg

GIRL NOT INCLUDED.

This is a $300 sleeping bag that looks like a slice of pizza from Etsy seller brookish7. It’s perfect for the person eho’s always wanted to sleep in a tauntaun. No, no it’s not. It’s perfect for the person who’s always wanted to sleep in Pizza the Hutt. Me? I just wanted to lick his face. “You’re nibbling.” He’s so cheesy I can’t help it!

The sleeping bag is constructed by hand. I use recycled quilts for the stuffing. I dye the fabric for the cheese and sauce part myself. The bag is lined with satin which makes it not only adorable but luxurious and comfortable. The pillows are not attached to the bag so you can arrange them however you wish.

Dimensions are approximately 3 feet by 5 feet.

Damn, only 5 feet long. You almost had me too. Looks like I’ll have to hold out for a taco sleeping bag after all. “And what if nobody ever makes them?” Then I’ll die miserable. Probably in a pillow fort.

Hit the jump for a couple more shots, a BONUS baked potato beanbag chair and a link to Brook’s Etsy site. View full post on Geekologie – Gadgets, Gizmos, and Awesome

monolith: iPhone 4 Case + Pocket Projector +Battery Rolled Into One

FILED IN gadgets No Comments

century feature

A Japanese accessory maker called Century started selling the “monolith” [JP] today, a case for the iPhone 4, a 1,900mAh battery, and a mini projector rolled into one (it’s still unclear if the device works with the iPhone 4S as well). The monolith is sized at 63.5×126.6×22mm and weighs 97g.

Century says that users can expect images sized at up to 60cm (in 16:9 format), in 640×360 resolution, with a 1,000:1 contrast ratio, and with 12 lumens brightness.

According to the company, the battery provides enough juice for 3 hours of projector usage and takes about 4 hours to fully charge. Without the projector, the in-case battery can add 50% to the life of the iPhone battery.

The monolith is available in black and white (price in Japan: US$260).

Minecraft Pocket Edition Plays Nice With More Android Phones

FILED IN gadgets No Comments

craftdroid

Welp, I suppose it’s about time to kiss my weekend goodbye. It was a bumpy ride there for a while, but Minecraft Pocket Edition has finally gone live in the Android Market with support for (nearly) all devices.

That’s right, you no longer need to have an Xperia Play to partake in a rousing session of world-building. Any Android device running 2.1 or later is welcome to join the fun, but only after you shell out the requisite $6.99

True Minecraft addicts have already whipped out their wallets, but keep this in mind before you buy. This is Minecraft Pocket Edition — it plays more like the creative Classic mode rather than the fan-favorite Survival mode. That means no zombies, no creepers, and no harvesting blocks. Instead, you’ve got an infinite amount of materials to bring to life whatever crazy, horrifying things are bouncing around in your heads right now.

If you’re new to Minecraft, and want to see what all the fuss is about, there’s also a free demo version to mess around with. Fair warning: it’s pretty addictive, so I hope you’re not in desperate need of $7.

On a very personal sidenote, I’d like to thank the game’s developers for having the foresight to release it on a Friday afternoon. Any earlier than that, and who knows what would’ve happened to people’s productivity?
