Rumor: Verizon Droid Eris to get a software update on July 16th?
Jul 12th

Man, its been a long time since we’ve had an episode of Good news, Bad news around these parts. You know what that means?
IT’S GOOD NEWS, BAD NEWS TIME!
The Good News: After a few months of radio silence, Droid Eris owners might have an update to look forward to!
The Bad News: It is, unfortunately, not Android 2.2. DroidLife just got their paws all up on this leaked VZW memo, which shines a bit of light on what will go down.
Right around the stroke of midnight on July 16th (if all of Verizon’s stars are aligned, that is), Eris owners will start seeing an update trickle out. Don’t be expecting to blessed with sudden Flash 10.1 support or Android 2.2’s fancy new WiFi hotspot functionality — but do expect audio enhancements, improved stability, and few tweaks here and there around the OS.
Is it everything Droid Eris owners could hope for? Ehhhh, probably not. But an update’s an update, right?
Update: The headline originally read July 12th — that’s today, and that was a typo. It should have read July 16th, as the post did. Sorry folks!

T-Mobile Vibrant coming a bit early: July 15th
Jul 9th
Just a quick note: the Vibrant, T-Mobile’s variant of the Samsung Galaxy S Android big-phone, will be getting here a little early — July 15th to be precise.
Maybe it’s to head off the Droid X menace (not to mention the other Galaxy models), or maybe they just got things done a little quicker than expected and want to push it out the door. We’ll never know.
I mean, unless somebody tells us.

And It’s Confirmed, The Samsung Vibrant Launches July 15th
Jul 9th
Case closed m’kay? While this isn’t entirely shocking considering we’ve already received documentation showing that T-Mobile indeed moved up the release date to July 15th, it never hurts to confirm again. That’s exactly what Ari Robbins of Phonedog did, asked @T-Mobile_USA twitter the Samsung Vibrant release date and I suppose shockingly so, they replied in the affirmative to the 15th. So there you have it, straight from Magenta’s mouth, case closed.

AT&T’s Samsung Captivate (Galaxy S) launching on July 18th for $199
Jul 8th

Remember the Captivate? It’s AT&T’s slightly modified version of Samsung’s Android-powered superphone, the Galaxy S. We already knew about the 4.0″ Super AMOLED display, the 1Ghz processor, and all the other specs. We even went hands on! What we didn’t have: a launch date or a price.
Well, now we do.
AT&T just sent over a carrier pigeon, with a single note attached to its foot. On this note, scribed in the finest gold: “SAMSUNG CAPTIVATE. July 18th. $199 on a 2-year contract (no rebate required)”. Any bets on whether or not AT&T’s going to unnecessarily lock this one down, like they seem to be doing with all? of their Android phones?

Samsung Vibrant Releasing July 15th, One Week Early?
Jul 7th
Hold the phone here!! Word has just come to me, via multiple sources, that the Samsung Vibrant is releasing July 15th, NOT the 21st as previously discussed. We are unsure as the reason for the pushup but perhaps T-Mobile is looking to move their hottest phone out to combat the Droid X, Evo and iPhone onslaught. We’ll update with more details as soon as hear more but for now, expect to purchase this device one week early!!
