Apple has a great family of streaming services centered around iTunes. Currently, users have to pay to rent or buy each individual movie/TV show. Hulu Plus Now Available For (A Few) Android Handsets

FILED IN gadgets No Comments

Tired of not being able to get your on-the-go Modern Family fix from Hulu just because you’re rockin’ an Android phone?

Fret no longer! Hulu Plus for Android has arrived. Sort of.

As is par for the course with video streaming apps on Android these days, Hulu Plus for Android is starting its life on… a very select bunch of handsets. Of the many dozens of Android devices floating around out there, Hulu Plus will initially support six: Nexus One, Nexus S, HTC Inspire 4G, Motorola Droid II, Motorola Droid X, and the Motorola Atrix.

PlayOn Officially Rolls Onto Android, Brings Netflix And Hulu With It

FILED IN gadgets No Comments

Given what Netflix has said so far, we know that Netflix for Android is coming… eventually. Even then, Netflix is still being a bit mysterious about which devices it’ll work on (though given their recent Qualcomm partnership, “things running a Snapdragon CPU” is a good guess.)

In the meantime, there’s a work around of sorts: PlayOn. After months of beta testing, PlayOn for Android is now available.

The catch: while the app is free, the service is not ($39.99 for the first year/$19.99 each year thereafter, or $79.99 for life). With that said, it’s the only means I know of right now for beamin’ the Netflix (or Hulu, TBS, CBS, Amazon VOD, MTV, SyFy, and.. uhh.. the Oprah Winfrey Network, if you’re feelin’ crazy) daterbits from any networked PC to any Android 2.2+ device over 3G or WiFi. Plus, it’ll do the same for your PS3, 360, Wii, or iOS devices.

You can find the now Beta-tag-less app in the Android Market right here.
