So Many Buttons!: Panorama Of Space Shuttle Discovery’s Cockpit (Plus Bonus Pics Of Today’s Final Flight)

FILED IN Entertainment No Comments

discovery-cockpit-panorama.jpg

Well folks, the Space Shuttle Discovery felt the wild blue yonder for the last time today, making a low-altitude flight over Washington DC atop it’s special 747 shuttle carrier on the way from Florida to its final resting place at the Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum. It’s been real, outerspace.

Space Shuttle Discovery, the eldest of NASA’s surviving space-worthy orbiters, helped build the ISS and carried the Hubble Space Telescope into orbit. It was brought into service after the tragedies that claimed Challenger and Columbia, and went on to complete 39 missions during which it logged 365 days in space, 5,830 orbits around the Earth and 148,221,675 miles traveled. Discovery completed its final mission on March 9…

Hit the jump for a couple shots of the shuttle cruising around DC today, but be sure to check out the link to National Geographic for interactive panoramas of the shuttle’s cockpit, mid-deck, and shitter. Soooooo many buttons to push! When the shuttle is at the Smithsonian will visitors be allowed to sit in it push them all? Because I’ll blog from there if we are. Or from the space-shitter, I don’t care — I just want to pretend I’m an astronaut and sign autographs.

GW to space command — am I clear to post? Over.
“This is space command, you are free to post, GW. Over.”
Copy that, space command, posting in 5…4…
“Just a heads up GW: we have a field trip of kids coming in about a half hour, so nothing about your wiener this time.”
ABORT ABORT ABORT!

Buy These Earrings And Get Free Cake As Bonus

FILED IN gadgets No Comments

By David Ponce

For anyone with a hole in their ears and a soft spot for GLaDOS and Aperture Labs, the above Portal earrings will let the world know how you feel. They’re rather large at 1.5 inch a piece, but don’t cost a fortune: $20. And even though they’re sold on Etsy (which often features handmade items), they’re made from laser cut acrylic for consistent and accurate reproduction. As you can imagine however, demand is high. This means there’s a 10 day backlog which will probably grow longer the more you wait to place your order.

Also, the cake is a lie.

Eye Candy: The World In A Drop Of Water (Plus Bonus Spider Man & Batman!)

FILED IN Entertainment No Comments

world-in-a-drop-1.jpg

German Photographer Marcus Reugels takes pictures of water droplets refracting an image of a planet behind them, making them each appear to contain a lil world (prior: MC Escher droplet). Aaaaaaah, we’re all gonna drown! Just kidding, but this does remind me of that cat in Men In Black that carries a whole galaxy around on its collar. Marcus sells prints of his work on his website and also takes requests in case you’ve got something special in mind. “I’m gonna get one of my penis!” Ha, I said special. BURN! Your girlfriend agrees though is the thing.

Hit the jump for several more earths, a moon, Jupiter, Spider Man and Batman and a picture of his setup. View full post on Geekologie – Gadgets, Gizmos, and Awesome

Impressive LEGO Tiger (Plus Bonus Pokemons!!!!11)

FILED IN Entertainment No Comments

lego-tiger.jpg

This is a lion tiger (I never learned my animals) made entirely out of LEGO/Technic pieces by LEGO-maniac and DeviantARTist retinence. As you can see, the dude has skills. I also included several of the Pokemon characters he’s made after the jump, because I know how much some of you love Pokemons. SPOILER: An unhealthy amount. No laughing, Trekkies! You’re wearing pointy ears and talking into a f***ing brooch. “HAHA!” Whoa — same goes for you, Star War-riors. You just spent $350 on a lightsaber replica that makes sounds and changes colors when you hit something, didn’t you? And after you already had two other ones. “But this one’s purple!” You’re sick.

Hit the jump for the Pokemons and, why not, a badass Harley Quinn he made as well.

TRON Light Cycle Scene Recreated In Duct Tape, WITH BONUS SAD-ASS TRON GUY!

FILED IN Entertainment No Comments

tape-tron.jpg

This is a commercial for Duck brand colored duct tape featuring a stop-action tape lightcycle battle, and TRON guy, who made me kind of sad. Plus he assaults his mom with a frisbee at the end, WHICH ISN’T COOL. You don’t ever throw things at your mom. Little brother, yes, but only because it’s your responsibility to toughen him up for the hard road ahead. Plus make him bite Snap ‘n Pops hard enough to explode. YOU’RE GONNA BE A MAN YET, GW JR. (I’m raising him in my own image). Now — I want you to ride your bike past me as fast as you can and I’m gonna kick you over.

Hit the jump for the I hope you got paid for that, TRONINATOR. View full post on Geekologie – Gadgets, Gizmos, and Awesome
