Blowing Chunks:121-Degree Rollercoaster Fall

FILED IN Entertainment No Comments

holy-geez-rollercoaster.jpg

Fun for the whole family! (except children under 48″)

This is a picture of Japan’s new Takabisha roller coaster at the Fuji-Q (NOT Suzie-Q) Highland amusement park near Mount Fuji. It features a 121-degree drop so, not only will you be ejected from your seat, but hit by the coaster car afterward. You hear that, Disneyland?! There’s a new happiest place on earth AND IT’S CALLED HEAVEN.

…the Takabisha roller coaster boasts the world’s steepest freefall: A gut-melting 121 degrees capable of inducing g-force levels equivalent to those experienced by fighter pilots.

The 141-foot, 62mph drop is merely the cherry that tops a 2-mile-long roller coaster cake filled with seven major twists and turns

Count me in — I f***ing looooooove puking. Helps remind me I’m alive. Also, that I boozed as hard as I could. GO BIG OR GO HOME! Ooooooooor to the hospital to get my stomach pumped. That charcoal taste is growing on me.

Hit the jump for two videos of the dizziness. The first from the ground, the second from the front seat. Now I don’t feel so good. View full post on Geekologie – Gadgets, Gizmos, and Awesome

Blowing Up A Bottle In A Microwave, Or, ‘How To Get Added To The Terrorist Watch List’

FILED IN Entertainment No Comments

microwave-explosion.jpg

This is a video of a guy sealing a Kahlua bottle (The Dude — is that you?!), putting it in a microwave, CLAMPING THE DOOR OF THE MICROWAVE SHUT SO IT DOESN’T BLOW OFF SO EASY, and setting the microwave’s timer to ‘total f***ing destruction’. Admittedly, it did a lot more damage than I expected, and just moved up four places on my list of how to dispose of old appliances. You hear that, ‘drop from the top of my apartment building’? Have fun hanging out with ‘bash with a sledgehammer’ and ‘back over with my neighbor’s truck’ you loser!

Hit the jump for the ‘that was the third explosion from his garage this week, I’m calling the police’. View full post on Geekologie – Gadgets, Gizmos, and Awesome

What Can I Say, The Man Loved Blowing Shit Up: A 320,000 Firecracker Memorial Service

FILED IN Entertainment No Comments

fireworks-memorial.jpg

I know it may look like a homemade Fruit by the Foot fort, but those are actually strings of firecrackers. 320,000 crackers to be precise. And this is a video of them being detonated as a memorial service to a deceased family member while neighbors drive by calling the police. “Hello, 911? THERE ARE TERRORISTS IN MY NEIGHBORHOOD! Also, a pedovan. Plus my neighbor lets dandelion seeds blow into my yard — is that an arrestable offense? Say, you don’t happen to have the showtimes for the local theater do you? Hello — hello?! I PAY TAXES, DAMMIT!”

Hit the jump for 1:30 of how the black smoke from LOST was born. Real actions starts around 0:40. View full post on Geekologie – Gadgets, Gizmos, and Awesome

FILED IN gadgets No Comments

Editor’s note: Guest author Steve Cheney is an entrepreneur and formerly an engineer & programmer specializing in web and mobile technologies.

On the heels of the latest Android phone, the Sprint HTC EVO, and as we approach iPhone 4, it seems like mobile devices and platforms are innovating at about five times the pace of personal computers.

Rapid advancement in mobile is often attributed to the natural disruption by which emerging industries innovate quickly, while established markets like PCs follow a slower, more sustained trajectory. But there are deeper fundamentals driving the breathtaking pace of smartphone advancement.
