How To: Hypnotize And Balance A 10-Ft Shark

FILED IN Entertainment No Comments

shark-trance.jpg

This is a picture of a diver balancing a ten foot shark vertically because apparently you can do that if you have balls big and heavy enough to keep you on the ocean floor. Which this lady clearly does.

[The diver] balanced a vertical 10-foot shark thanks to her unusual ability to put it into a trance. To create the state, the Italian diver rubs the ampullae of Lorenzini, the name give to hundreds of jelly-filled pores around the animal’s nose and mouth. She has used the technique to remove parasites and fishing hooks caught in shark mouths.

Simple as that — you just gotta rub the ampullae of Lorenzini around the nose and mouth. Pfft, and they made that Jaws movie seem like it was such a big deal! GOD, JUST RUB HIS LIPS, DUMMIES!

Thanks to Matt, who tried to convince me you can hypnotize a bull by dressing up like a milk-cow in heat. I’ve rarely felt so violated. View full post on Geekologie – Gadgets, Gizmos, and Awesome

Fresh Vending Machines Strike A Balance Between Junk Food And Fruit

Fresh Healthy Vending Machines (Image courtesy Fresh Healthy Vending)
By Andrew Liszewski

If you frequent a vending machine at work or school you’ve probably learned to silence that little voice inside telling you there are far healthier snacking alternatives. But at the same time, there’s nothing more boring than a vending machine filled with fresh fruits and vegetables. So a San Diego-based vending company has come up with a nice compromise. Their ‘Fresh Healthy Vending’ machines are still packed with snacks like cookies, chips, crackers and juices, but they’re all from companies who use organic or all-natural ingredients. In other words, they provide a far healthier way to deal with the munchies.

The machines can be packed with snacks from over 500 recognized brands, which tend to lean towards items like granola bars, smoothies, yogurts, etc. instead of chocolate bars and candy. They’re also a bit on the high-tech side, with dual zone climates for keeping dairy based products fresh, payment systems that accept credit and debit cards in addition to coins and bills, and even remote wireless monitoring of stock and sales. Since organic and other healthier snacks tend to cost more than your typical vending machine fare, I think the Fresh machines face some tough competition from their incumbent rivals. But maybe snacking guilt will give them a big advantage.

Logitech M570 Wireless Trackball Reviewed. Verdict: Perfect Balance Between Ergonomics and Precision

FILED IN gadgets No Comments

Building a better mouse trap may be a phrase nearly lost to time, but building a better mouse has never been more timely. Spending 8 to 12 hours per day at a computer, you really start to develop an appreciation for the tiniest changes in your controls. Logitech, who has made a name for itself subtly tweaking and perfecting the mouse, has made more radical changes in its line of trackballs. Their latest, the M570 Trackball, has moved the almost comfortably placed trackball out from under our fingers. The bright blue, gumball-sized sphere is now exclusively controlled by your thumb.

With the ball out of the way, the rest of the M570 looks like a perfectly comfortable mouse with four conveniently placed buttons and a scroll wheel. Ergonomics aside, the trackball is exclusively made for right handed users and there’s inherently a steep learning curve, especially for first time users. Additionally, the trackball also comes with Unifying receiver so you can easily share the wireless USB dongle with other compliant input devices, such as the Logitech K800 keyboard. Although much better for your wrists, how hard will it be to switch to using your thumbs to ‘mouse’ around? Does the more natural feel of the rest of trackball make up for having to retrain your clumsy thumb? You can decide for yourself after checking out the review at Everything USB.

Logitech G700 Gaming Mouse Reviewed. Verdict: Near Perfect Balance Between Performance and Ergonomics

FILED IN gadgets No Comments

By Ian Chiu

Logitech has always been known for their great peripherals and have consistently released some down right marvelous mice. To many consumers when they think “mouse” they think Logitech; unfortunately, not every GAMING user thinks Logitech when think gaming mice. This is the crux of the matter, so what can Logitech do to not only outdo their past models but more importantly, entice even more jaded PC gaming aficionados away from the competition and back to Logitech?

The answer Logitech has come up with is to offer a seamless wired / wireless combination mouse with a down right whopping 13 buttons and call this beast the “G700″! The Logitech G700 gaming mouse certainly is an interesting solution and one that merits closer investigation. One thing that is now gone is the weight customization which has been with the G5, G9 and G9x. So, the mouse could be too heavy for some. The G700’s battery life also fails to impress. You could only get about six to eight hours out of the single AA battery. Perhaps this is the reason why Logitech provides a USB cable that also turns the G700 into a wired gaming mouse and at the same time re-charges the 2000mAh battery inside. The Logitech G700 isn’t perfect, but it certainly qualifies as a killer gaming peripheral as well as a all round everyday mouse. Everything USB has the full review.
