Looks Promising: Pokemon Arcade Game Coming To Japan

FILED IN Entertainment No Comments

pokemon-arcade-1.jpg

This is Pokemon Tretta, a stand-up arcade game that’s dropping in Japan this July. It plays similar to the existing video games, but everytime you discover a new Pokemon it spits out a little plastic collector chip with the monster’s name and picture on it that can be scanned and used in future games. Plus it has a spinning wheel! Flashing lights, a spinning wheel and prizes? It’s like an entire carnival packed into a single arcade game! The only thing it’s missing is a fat kid puking hotdog on the tilt-a-whirl. That was me guys — I was that fat kid. Plus my mom wouldn’t buy me another hotdog because she said I wasted the first one.

Hit the jump for a shot of the little collectible coin thingies, which kinda look like fancy poker chips. View full post on Geekologie – Gadgets, Gizmos, and Awesome

The Inspirational Story Of Caine’s Cardboard Arcade

FILED IN Entertainment No Comments

caines-arcade.jpg

This is the heartwarming story of a 9-year old boy who made a whole series of arcade games out of cardboard and set them up in his dad’s east L.A. used auto parts shop. The games even dispense tickets (read: he crawls in the back of the box and pushes them through a slot), which can be redeemed for prizes. It’s a real feel-good story. One of hope. One of people BELIEVING in you. One that will undoubtedly be ruined by trolls.

Hit the jump for ten minutes of maybe this world isn’t such a giant shithole after all. *steps in gum* I’M NUKING THIS F***ING PLANET. View full post on Geekologie – Gadgets, Gizmos, and Awesome

Spare Some Tickets?: Insane Arcade Basketball Guy

FILED IN Entertainment No Comments

basketball-guy.jpg

This is a video of a a guy playing one of those arcade basketball games. Is he better than our previously reigning champ? I don’t know, their techniques are completely different. The first guy takes his time to make every shot, this guy throws the balls at lightspeed. Oh man, one time I was playing tug-o-war with my dog when she let go of the rope bone and — WA-BAP! — I clubbed myself in the balls at full force. I ran to the bathroom, dropped my shorts, and just sat there cupping them until I whited out and fell off the toilet. Never again.

Hit the jump for the ticketmaster in action. View full post on Geekologie – Gadgets, Gizmos, and Awesome

Turn Your iPad Into An Atari Arcade Rig

FILED IN gadgets No Comments

By David Ponce

Arcade machines were for a long time the only way that you could get any gaming done. Home consoles wouldn’t conquer the living room properly until the mid 80′s and for a good period from the mid 70′s onwards, Atari was pioneering the genre. Most of you don’t need the brief introduction to the company, but we’ve come across way too many teens lately who’ve shockingly never heard the name. Sadly, they won’t be able to appreciate the beauty in this docking station for the iPad, a collaboration between Discovery Bay Games and Atari. Just dock your generation 1 or 2 iPad and instantly get access to 99 games, among them classics like the original Pong, or Asteroids. Sadly, the games are not included in the $60 price. A 25 game pack is $1, while $15 gets you the whole library.

‘Jonah Ray’s Arcade’ Video Game Show Pilot

FILED IN Entertainment No Comments

jonahs-arcade.jpg

No, Jonah, it’s not that big and you and I both know it.

NOTE: Video is NSFW on account of mad bad words.

This is the 19-minute pilot for my buddy Jonah Ray’s video game-themed comedy show, ‘Jonah’s Ray’s Arcade’. It was pitched to Comedy Central, but, unfortunately, passed on. Which is a shame because there is sooooooooo much shitty shit on TV, but THIS — this I would have at least DVR’d.

Hit the jump for the whole show. View full post on Geekologie – Gadgets, Gizmos, and Awesome
